From Susan — Blah!

Sometimes the best laid plans go awry.  This second Sunburst Beaded Bag is a disappointment — it is so blah!  And I had such high hopes!

Sunburst II by you.

The center circles were gorgeous when they were laying there on their own, but look completely non-descript in the bag.  It also goes with NOTHING*!  Oh well…. 🙂

* PS to Nancy — I never even though of black!  Oh wait, I don’t have anything black.  Never mind!

PS2 — now I feel bad after reading everyone’s comments.  And, really, I wasn’t fishing for compliments, but appreciate them all the same!

  1. I think it’s lovely. It would look stunning on black.

  2. Blah?!? I think it looks fabulous. Swanky vintage art deco bag, that will glitter subtly when you wear it to that exclusive museum opening, movie premier, or what the heck, how about Oscars night?

  4. My idea of blah and yours are really different. Perhaps you need new prescription lenses! I think it’s lovely.

  5. I agree with the others – it is tres chic. And would you give me a hint on how you did your cording? I know how to do twisted cording, but how did you add the beads? I just found my fairy bag and it still doesn’t have cording – your bags are inspiring me to finish it!

  9. Don’t send it to Surly. The postage is too high. Send it to me. I live closer.

  14. I really like it, and I don’t think it’s blah at all. It looks to me like it would go with just about everything.

  15. I think it’s lovely! I like the color…it looks elegant and classy! Put it away for a few days and if you still don’t care for it, I’ll send you my address. I don’t want you to suffer, you’re one of my favorite blogs! LOL

  17. All I can say is WoW! I’m going to make one – as soon as I get a few other projects finished. I think it will grow on you – if it doesn’t there are lots of people that will take it off your hands!

  18. I agree with all the rest. It is lovely and not blah at all. As for not going with anything, it would go with black, silver, blue purple or taupe. If you don’t have something dressy in any of those colors, maybe a shopping trip is in order. LOL. I’m dying to make one of these, but they do look like a sunny day and an OTT light are required. If you still think it is blah, enter it in the state fair. I bet the judges agree with all the commenters.

  19. i often do not like my projects by the time i am done with them — is it that the real doesn’t match the preconceived ideal? is it that one is bored and feeling like starting something new, so a bit resentful? i don’t know, but that is absolutely why i end up giving much of my knitting away.

and sign me up as #19 in the “it’s lovely, it’s a keeper, i’ll take it if you don’t want it” category! 😉

  20. I agree with the elegant comments. It’s not as ‘flashy’ gorgeous as the first one, it’s beauty is more on the quiet and dignified side of the spectrum. I think it’s very pretty, and kinda wish I had made it…

Oh, and I also agree that it would go lovely with black, might even deserve a little wardrobe stash enhancement retail therapy… just saying’…

    Happy knitting-

  21. Your “second Sunburst Beaded Bag” is not blah! On the contrary, it is exquisite and you have used my favorite colors. Sometimes less is more! If I had the good fortune to find something like this in an Artisan shop (or antique shop) I would buy it! I found “theraineysisters” two nights ago after I was sent home from work for a workman’s comp injury. I have been going backwards on your blog (previous post, previous post) and am continually amazed and inspired. I’ve teared up and laughed right out loud enough to irritate my Maine Coon cat. This bag should be a family heirloom. I have to click on previous post now, but you take care now!
