From Susan — Summer Time

It may BE summer in Minnesota, but it sure doesn’t feel like it!  It is in the 50’s today!!  Hubby needed a coat to take out the dog this morning…brrrrr.

I am taking the next week off, so will hang out and lead a life of leisure for the next few days.  Yay!   I went to see the new Harry Potter movie last night and LOVED it!!  Did any of you catch the knitting reference?  I about leapt out of my chair!

Sally and I are doing some stealth knitting, and I am plugging away on my Swirl Scarf.

Swirl by you.

Scarves are boring to post about — they look the same, just longer!   There are now 14 strips completed as opposed to the 5 shown above.  I’ll end up with 19 or 22 at the end.   That’s all for now 🙂 !

  2. This looks like a great scarf! I love the colors, the texture, and the design. Can’t wait to see the finished product. 🙂

  3. Last week at knitting camp someone had taken the above swirls and created a cardigan!!!

The 50’s….will we never have a streak of days that really seems like summer rather than April or May???

  4. It might be boring to knit but it looks pretty fancy.

  5. This cold weather… sucks. I’d rather have 50 than 100, but still, can’t we just have a traditional 80 degrees?

  6. It’s lovely! The texture is wonderful…and the colorway is exquisite!
I’ll trade temps with you….down here in Houston it’s not unusual this summer for the temps to be 100 plus! Still knitting with wool like I’m crazy though!

  7. What do you mean. . . it’s beautiful. It’ll be fun to watch your progress.

  8. I too was excited when Dumbledore asked to borrow the knitting magazine! “I just love knitting patterns.” I can’t say that my family was as excited as I was about that part during the post-movie wrap-up conversation.

  10. I would like the pattern where can I get it?

  11. Yes, I caught the knitting reference and I am so proud of Dumbledore! My hubby did not hear it at all. I guess we have radar ears for knitting. I was probably the only one in the theater checking out all the hats/scarves/sweaters all the characters were wearing, too.

  12. I totally agree with how lovely the piece is. Bravo! That would also make a really nice felted handbag or tote.

an aside. I also have the snow flake shawl pattern that you were working on. What ever you did differently to yours for the background totally works. Your background is much more polished and clean looking than that of the model shawl. Would you be interested in throwing out some tips on how you got it to look so nice? If so, a many thanks!
