My Teen Knit Night was a total success. We ate popcorn, knitted on scarves and watched increasingly “scary” movies (John Tucker Must Die –> Practical Magic –> Silent Hill). It was a ton of fun. Â
Michelle would like an update on knitting on planes. Have any of you travelled by plane real recently? The last time I flew, they were absolute stinkers about knitting.Â
I flew to Los Angeles twice in September with no problems and at least one flight was after the ban on gels and liquids.

Congrats on Teen Knit Night success! Sounds like fun! good luck on knitting on a plane, I believe they’ve loosened up a bit. I had not problems taking a small scissor and dpns on board.

Teen knit night sounds great! As for the traveling, I’ve been doing quite a bit lately. Since the heightened security, I’ve only been brave enough to bring knitting on my bamboo DPNs (sizes 1 through 3, so the worst I could do is give someone a splinter), and I haven’t had a single problem. Of course, I’m too chicken to bring cutting devices of any sort.

I flew to Boston and back in October with no questions asked about knitting-just liquids. I bought a beautiful blown glass ball with some sand and sea shells inside which they did question. The TSA says knitting needles are allowed. Actually, only once since 911 have I been unable to take them on a plane and I’ve flown once or twice every year.
