From Susan — Quick Update from Sleeve Island

After my Eala Bhan sweater body and collar dried, I sewed the collar on.  It fit perfectly into its slot and when I tried on the sweater, sans sleeves, it fit me, too!   I did add an i-cord bead around the outside edge of the collar.

I am halfway done with one sleeve and getting completely bored.  The more bored I get, the slower I knit!  I may have to take a mini-break from this and knit up something small to break through the monotony.  I have a few ideas already! 😉

A mini-break does not mean that I am abandoning my Eala Bhan, but knitting should not feel like work.  My EZ Green Sweater is all sleeves, too, so I am really stranded on sleeve island!

  1. I do like the i-cord edging – makes a fantastic knit just look a bit more finished. I’m going very slowly on some sleeves right now as well. I think Sunday afternoon will be sleeve day here.

  2. The I-cord edging is a great addition. Am getting anxious to start my Eala Bhan but have promised myself I’d work through some other projects that have been hanging around before I get into that. It will be interesting to find out if I keep my promise to myself!

  3. I would love to go to sleeve island. Can you MapQuest it for me? The I-cord edging is a perfect finish on the collar. Great idea.

  7. Sleeve island is beautiful! At least you’re not stuck on the continental “waistland”, which is where I always get bored with my sweaters!

  10. Did you take the pic of sleeve island? If so, where is it??? I just returned from some South Pacific Islands, didn’t get pictures as nice as that!

    Sweater is gorgeous, too.

  11. If that’s where you get to go when knitting sleeves – I’m in! This sweater looks gorgeous to me. Maybe someday…in a place far away (sleeve island?) I may be talented enough to give it a try.

  12. Would it be mean of me to say that sleeve island looks a lot like Hawaii? Yes, I believe it would so I won’t bring it up. 🙂

The I-cord is perfect. The sweater is looking great. And I’m glad you’re bored because you always find highly amusing small things to knit, so that means a treat for us.

  13. Amen to paragraph two of Twinset Ellen! As for ‘knit island’ I wouldn’t know where it is, but the ‘immediacy’ of that picture is stunning.

  14. I have to say that perhaps you need to find a photo of a scraggly island! This photo looks far too lovely and inviting!!
