From Susan — I LOVE the Buttons

We all know the heartache of searching for the right buttons.  I had a concept in my mind for the Lopi Cardigan and started my search.  What I ended up with is not really what I saw in my mind’s eye, BUT I really like them.  They are elaborate mythical dragons.

I did not think something this ornate would work with the heavy yarn and simplicity of the design, but when I laid them out, the flecky light and dark grey of the yarn looked nice with the buttons.  The sweater fits perfectly (I had to shorten the sleeves from my original guesstimate) and it buttons beautifully without gapping.  So, I am very happy with the result!!

  6. I am partial to cardigans, and this one would be one I would wear a lot. I thought pewter buttons might be nice, and your choice is the perfect touch!

  7. The dragon buttons are beautiful and most appropriate for someone that I just happen to know was born in the year of the dragon! I made a great sweater from an old issue of Vogue Knitting designed by Mary Lynn Patrick that utilizes the cable in your sweater. Thinking it was a Holiday issue between 1995 and 1998.

  8. Your sweater is wonderful, warm and cozy! I am planning to make it in Lopi teal heather for my daughter in January. How did you find the sizing? Is the length right or did you need to adjust it? The model I saw in a yarn shop seemed a little short.

  9. The buttons are great with the sweater, but I’m with Marina – can we have a modelled photo?

  13. Susan- I saw those at Spinblessing. You’re right, the buttons can make or break
    the sweater.

    Perfect choice.

  14. I LIKE it! Those buttons would be lost in an intricate fair isle. This sweater gives them an opportunity to shine.
