This is a momentous occasion for us! Michaela finished her Roslin Fair Isle Hoodie! It is a fantastic feeling to see that someone actually used our pattern — wow!

Beautiful! It certainly doesn’t hurt that Michaela is a superb knitter. She used Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4 Ply — colors 277, 271, 283, 269, 267, 270.  We’re not sure what she did to adapt the fair isle band to accommodate the different yarn.Â

This reminds me of an incident years ago at Stitches (when it was here in the Twin Cities). I was wearing a sweater I had made from a pattern in Knitters. It wasn’t my favorite sweater, but one of my only summer sweaters. The designer was at Stitches and practically tackled me as I walked through the Market. “OMG, you made my sweater!!” She would not let me leave — she kind of stalked me! Now I know how exactly how she felt!!
Real, live joke of the day:
My youngest daughter got her spacers put in for braces yesterday, so of course her teeth are killing her. She got up this morning and said her teeth hurt so much during the night that they woke her up. My husband said, “I know what time you woke up.” She asked, “What time?”Â
“Tooth hurty!”
What a beautiful sweater and what a beautiful job she did!!! You guys should be proud.

Oh my gosh… I know I’m just as lame as that joke, but I just laughed my butt off! I love puns.

Congratulations Michaela on a beautiful sweater! I love your colors. Mine is just now blocking/drying in the guest room, away from the cats. Why do cats love wool so much? The youngest especially loves to sever the ball of yarn from the work and make off with one or the other.

I had a similar experience when Yarn Harlot came to Virginia on her book tour. I wore the Tiptoe Tulip socks that she designed for Knitty in ’03 or ’04. She was very excited and told me that she had never seen a pair knit by anyone except her!! I was thrilled. You deserve to be very proud of your “child” and the new siblings as they come along!

The Hoodie is fantastic. I’m looking forward to finish spinning some yarn for this. I’ll move the pattern section as I’m a bit ample on top, tho.
Commiserations to the daughter. I remember when I got braces – on the first day of dancing school. Double embarrassment. The hubby’s pun is hilarious tho.
