From Susan — It Walks!

Well, more like lumbers, but I am off the scooter for the most part and walking in my boot!  It is slow and awkward, and not as speedy as my scooter, but unless I start walking, I cannot move on in my recovery so I am excited about my milestone.

I am also making some progress on my Summer Solstice cardigan.  I have put my Double Heelix Socks aside for the moment (though I take my sock with me as a portable project).  I was inspired to finish my cardi because I am going to be attending Meg Swansen’s Knitting Camp in two weeks and I have heard that the venue tends to be chilly.  I am going with my good friend, Kim.  Kim is a ton of fun and a great knitter, so it should be a wonderful experience.  So, anyway, I am feverishly trying to finish my SS so I can throw it on at Camp.  I totally love this pattern and may make another in “pretty” vs. functional yarn.

Have a great holiday weekend with family and friends!!

  1. Love the Summer Solstice pattern too. Looking forward to seeing both your examples before I take the plunge. (Of course, I could look on Ravelry for others, but your comments are always so helpful.) Happy Fourth to you, too.

  2. Knitting camp will be so fun! And the room is chilly – so pack a shawl and maybe a pair of socks as well! I hope you have a wonderful time!

  3. I was also pleased to hear that the rooms tend to be a bit chilly, but no sweaters for me hopefully I just won’t be HOT!

  4. I’ll see you there! I am also taking long sleeves and sox, because even though Wisconsin is hot in the summer, the room is cool. Can’t wait to meet you in person. You will love the group, it is a great bunch of knitters.

  5. How great you are going to camp! Some year…

I’m heading out to Sock Summit again, so I honestly am not complaining!

  6. Hey Susan,

I am glad to hear that you are healing well. I agree with the others, the Solstice pattern is lovely, I think I might try that one myself, once I finish the Lady Feb. Sweater that I is still lingering in my knitting bag. Have fun at knitting camp, I can’t wait to hear about it when you return.

  7. Go, Susan, go! Summer Solstice a bit of a slog-sweater. . . to be sure. . . but so worth it! Can’t wait to see yours when it’s finished. (Don’t get rid of the scooter too quickly; it might be a handy way to get around from time to time!)
