Aubrey Cap from Simply Shetland 2

Aubrey Cap (page 83) – recommended changes
After making this hat many times, I have found that the following technique is superior to the one I originally described in the pattern.Â
I also usually start the cable strip with a provisional cast on, make the four incs per the pattern, make the cabled strip, do the decs and then join the beg and end of the strip with a 3-needle bind off. Â It is less bulky.
Substitute:
“slip 1 st as to purl with yarn in back†for “knit into st belowâ€
This will make it easier to pick up the edges AND it looks better.  It is located in 3 places in the pattern: it appears twice in the description for “Next Row (RS)†after the chart is worked, and once in the “Key†to the chart where the “K†symbol is defined.
Re: the name, Aubrey. My father’s brother was named Aubrey.  It is a name I have always loved, and even though it is a man’s name and a woman’s hat, in recent years the name Aubrey has resurfaced as a woman’s name.
