From Susan — It’s MY Turn!

Yes, I know — everyone LOVES Sally’s Feather and Fan Shawl and everyone LOVES Sally’s Bohus and everyone LOVES Sally’s Berry Cluster Pullover — Sally, Sally, Sally (geez, she’s finished a lot of stuff lately!).  I’ve been feeling a little neglected of late — I haven’t finished anything in MONTHS.  So, I embarked on a “quick knit” project, just to feel the juice of getting something done.  And I did finish something.

Well, I finished one of a pair of items.  And it is really impressive.  I KNOW it’s impressive because when I showed my family, they stared in slack-jawed wonder, completely speechless .  Honest — no one said a word!  My thoughtful husband suggested that I finish the first one completely before wasting investing my time on the second.  I’m taking his advice.  I hope I haven’t built it up too much — you know, oversold it!  Click here to see the item before felting.

Click here for a picture of the FO — needs one more run through though, I think.  I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a classy, timeless and very practical project — to be enjoyed for years to come.   Take that, Surly! 😉

Response to question: the “wonderment” was pre-felting!

  1. Was the slack-jawed wonderment pre or post felting? Love the colours you chose, by the way.

  2. Wow. That really puts me to shame. (Actually, the before picture isn’t quite as bad as I thought it was going to be and the post-felting one is kind of cute.)

  3. LOL! I think my family would have me committed if I showed it to them before felting! I love the colours!

  4. Don’t worry, I still love you! 🙂

(And Sally, your FOs are AWESOME!)

  5. From Susan — my husband was mortified on my behalf and still can’t understand my choice of colors. I am so boring and traditional that I wanted to have some fun with these since I’ll just be wearing them around the house!!

  8. They’re a little lacking in glamour but the felted clogs are wonderful! You’ll enjoy them daily. And that bright color is a lift! Mine are gray and red — I wish they were snappier.

  9. I LOVE your color combination. My slippers are wine colored and my husband said that the
pre-felted version reminded him of Ronald McDonald’s shoes!

  10. Alot of people swear by those felted clogs. So when they ask you to make them a pair, just say no.

  13. Hi Susan, I’ve been out of the loop due to a high volume of birthdays in our house for the last several days. My Eris collar is done and stitches picked up and plain knitting started. Love the felted clogs, I need to add those to my list of knitting.

  14. Great clogs! I am not much into felting.. as my 4 cats and 3 dogs seem to combine with the washer and “felt” little bits of their fur into my clothing! So anything felted would REALLY pick up fuzz! But I am tempted by the clogs.. they look so comfy.

  15. From Susan — the clogs are incredibly comfortable!

  16. Susan, What kind of yarn did you use for your clogs? I’ve used Lambs Pride, but it’s so fuzzy I’ve had to shave everything once it’s dry — your clogs didn’t seem to have the fuzz issue.

  17. I’m speechless. It’s pretty brave to felt one clog. Great colours!

  18. I love your colors! I made a pair as a Christmas gift from KnitPicks Mulled Wine (a heathery winey rose) for the main part and Artic Pool Heather (a medium faded denim kind of blue) for the sole and edge. And I’ve been waffling on what colors to make for myself. You have opened whole new horizons!
