Henry VIII

I knit this sweater for my husband. Fortunately, I can wear this one too — it’s somewhat “big” for me but I’m willing to make the sacrifice. It’s an Alice Starmore design from her book Tudor Roses.

Here is a detail of the neck:

Here is a closeup of the main part of the pattern:

Finally, because you know how much I like to look at the inside, here is the reversed stranded design:

  2. I’m so glad that I’ve found someone that knitted this for a man. Do you have pictures of him wearing it?

I just want to see what it looks like on a guy.

    It looks awesome though!

  3. This is absolutely beautiful. Learning to do this is one of my resolutions for 2008. Of course I don’t expect that I will be able to accomplish anything like this anytime soon, but it is lovely to look at.

  4. Gorgeous!!!!!!!! I have that Alice Starmore book with that pattern. Can you tell me what yarn you used to make it? My husband complains about some sweaters being scracthy on his skin. If I took the time to make this, I would want it too not only be not scratchy, but hold up well. Many thanks!

  5. Sorry, forgot to ask this question. Have you made any other Starmore sweaters? I have several of her books, but yet to make one. Do you have an excellent yarn source that puts out high quality yarn at an affordable price with good service? thanks again so much!

  6. I would love to make Henry VIII for my husband as you did, would you be so kind in sending me the information where can I get such pattern or maybe you can provide me with the graphics. I understand, according to the yarn shops is no longer available. Been knitting for two years and I feel up to the challenge. Hope you can help. Sincerely, KAYcee

  7. This is so beautiful! Hang on to that book…amazon is selling this book for over $600.00! Too bad it is out of print, I am lucky enough to have a friend who has the book, I will attempt this sweater down the road. Great job, I bet your husband loves this sweater, and I hope he isn’t shy because if he wears this sweater, I bet he is questioned all of the time where he got it from!
