From Both of Us – Soggy Sheep & Wool Festival

Filed under: Updates — Both Sisters @ 3:20 pm

It rained last year and it rained this year.  We really didn’t expect two bad weather years in a row, but we came prepared!!  Susan stuffed three pairs of rubber boots from Target into her suitcase (two pairs for Sally to try!).  We tromped merrily through every puddle we encountered, without a care.

This little fella didn’t care either!!

On our Ravelry Group we had announced that we would attend the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival.  We ran into several readers 🙂 , and spent some quality time with Pru (aka Tigermum).  What a delightful fellow knitter and hopeless enabler!!  It doesn’t hurt that she has a beautiful British accent so everything she says sounds better.

Inspired by Pru, we both bought Fiber Optic Paintbox Gradient Sets.  Susan bought Espresso-Crimson-Gold:

Sally got the Light Into Darkness colorway.  (The photo at the link is better than the photo I took if you want to see the true color.)

Susan also found a set of vintage buttons for her Funky Grandpa (now finished!!), and Sally bought some Signature needles to try out.  We did not go overboard and feel pretty good about it!

  1. Thought about you this weekend! Nice restraint. Can’t wait to see Funky Grandpa, and I look forward to a Sally report on Signatures. Wish I was going to Shepherd’s Harvest this coming weekend, but the lure of the cabin is stronger.

  2. I met Pru a few years ago at a Carodan Farm retreat and agree with you 100% — what a fun and lovely person she is!

  3. So funny. I only knew the wool festival was that weekend because you mentioned it in the previous post. My eldest son and I made the trip. So what a coincidence it was to be passing by the fiber optics booth and who do I see? The Rainey Sisters! If you ladies hadn’t been so intense in your examination of the gradient sets I would have said hello. Looks like your picks were well worth the concentration!

  4. Those gradients are glorious – and HUGE (or is that UGE?)! Can’t wait to see what you both knit with, what, 15 different shades?

And thank you for the sweet comment, the English accent can take in a lot of people but only in America 😀

Wendy, that was a fun retreat, my first SoXperience. While I wasn’t wearing Rainey Sister rubber boots on Saturday my feet were still cozy in the socks you designed for that class. My other favorite socks are also one of your designs, Rosebud, knitted in Fiber Optic Kashmir.

  5. I thought maybe you bought the sheep. I would have.

  6. I can’t wait for your review of the Signature needles.
