Feather & Fan Shawl

This shawl pattern is from Meg Swansen’s A Gathering of Lace. I used grey shetland lace weight yarn to knit this. If you would like to see all blog entries related to the making of this shawl, click here. Those entries include photographs of the shawl in progress and of its being blocked.

  1. This is the most beautiful feather and fan shawl I have seen yet. Would you share with me where you got the pattern?

    Thank you!

  3. Hi! Yes!! Indeed! This is truly a beautiful pattern. I too would love a copy of this pattern if it is possible to get one. I am very new to blogging and such . I am brand new to this site. I have been knitting for years and began when I was 15 yrs old. I accidently found this group of knitters while looking up the Great American Aran Afghan on Google. I think this is great and I am overwhelmed at the different knitted items that I can look at and actually have a pattern to be copied for myself. I feel like a kid in Toys R US…

  4. Oh! Hi! Again! i have just read what you had written above and I have this book at home. I just have never seen it knitted and shown in this way. It is beautiful and it is exciting that i have the book. I have to focus, however, on knitting one thing at a time. I get carried away and can start too many things and then never really finish anything until months later.

  6. FYI, this lovely pattern is available in Meg Swanson’s A Gathering of LACE. This pattern, and others can be found in this book, and trust me, you’re going to spend a lot of time thinking through that “stash” in the closet and figuring out if you’ve got yarn that will do for this or that project. You just might have what you need.

Also, check out the Schoolhouse Press site at: http://www.schoolhousepress.com/wool.htm

You can find all the yarns needed for every pattern in Meg Swanson’s book.

You’ll be able to find all the information you want on this and other wonderful projects.

As for the Feather and Fan, the copyright is current, so you ought to buy the book. Seriously. You’ll find enough projects in that single book, which contains lacy shawls, warmers, sweaters, and all of them WOW! projects. Go ahead…spoil yourself and buy the book already. You know you want to.

You’ll be glad if you have this book. Very glad. Think of it as another Christmas present to yourself. Then you can be virtuous and give the lacy projects to everyone you know. Or you can hold that illusion, but beware. If you think you’re going to give these away, you’re going to have to knit two. One for the “giftee”, and one for yourself.
