…nor dark of night shall stay these knitters from their holiday gathering. It’s true! Knitters rock! Last night was the December Minnesota Knitters Guild meeting, and it is a special one at that. We do a silent auction to benfit the charitable work of the guild and bring treats to share in a festive, holiday atmosphere. Enter bad weather! The streets were gridlocked and people could not get anywhere in the snow. About 15 minutes before the meeting was supposed to start, a handful of us were sitting and knitting and wondering if the meeting was a “go.”
We decided to go into the large meeting room, set up a couple of tables and eat the cookies people brought. All of a sudden, hordes of knitters appeared out of nowhere! We ended up with about 60 people, a very successful auction and tons of yummy food.
I had to be out 4 of the 5 nights this week, and when the weather hit I just had to admit I was nuts to try to make the meeting. I’m so glad you got a good turnout regardless of the road conditions, and though sad to have missed it, I am also a wee bit saner than if I’d tried. See you next month!

To Ellen: You were smart not to go! It was crazy out there. But we did miss you and look forward to seeing you next month. Have a wonderful holiday in between.

Ah, those Minnesotans are a hardy lot! Glad to hear your meeting and auction were a success after all.

It did make me laugh when you say hordes of knitters appeared from nowhere. It all sounds like it was a worthwhile get together by a group of lovely people. Julie.C

Ahh, I am so sorry i missed it! Being a non-native, I was afraid I the snow would swallow me
whole. And they would find me next spring, behind my steering wheel with needles in hand trying
to knit a blanket for warmth!

Having just emerged from a week of no electricity, light or heat here in the Northeast, trees down everywhere, a flooded basement, the only thing I thought I could not fix was having fallen behind on my holiday knitting. And so I went online looking for inspiration, figuring I’d get it from a knitter, and here you are with your lovely December Guild meeting story. Thank you. Just a wonderful image. Gotta go knit. Happy holidays.

Hello,
question if you don’t mind? I love the jeans you’re both wearing in your banner picture, and I’ve been looking for some like them — but no luck — would you mind telling where you found them? Thanks so much! And love your blog — will be back.
I linked to your blog from a Google search on The Great American Aran Afghan, and I have a completely random (I’m like that

I’m a devoted reader of your blog and hope you can help me since although I knit, I don’t have a blog site. Would you please be kind enough to ask your readers for some suggestions…my good friend was just diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer and I would like to knit for her. Any ideas for a soft but warm yarn for hats for sleeping and going outside for medical appointments (we live in New England)? I also want to make a warm and easy to care for prayer shawl (I’m not a big lover of Lion Brand Homespun even though it meets the criteria). Knitters are always so generous with their time…I know it’s the busiest time of the year, but I need to cast on A.S.A.P.
I can’t thank you enough for your help – wishing you all the blessings of this holiday season…and happy knitting!
Sincerely,
Maureen
