I love a fair isle hat and Alison Rendall does not disappoint. She is responsible for the wildly popular Buggiflooer Beanie from a couple of years ago. I absolutely loved her hat design called Yoxie. The dramatic colors really called my name. I was unsure about the pale blue and cream colored sections, but decided to trust her for the most part. The blue and cream add a lot!! I did a lot of adjusting to correct the jog, which you can see in this photo:

I changed the crown coloration quite a bit. I added more blue to make it look more like that section of the body. I love the final look of it but apparently the state fair judges were less impressed! It got 4th place.
I am sorry we have not been posting much lately. Call it the fall doldrums and political fatigue! I’ll try to do better!

Beautiful hat – I really like the blue in the crown.
And the tablecloth is also gorgeous.
Thanks for posting!

Beautiful! Sorry you didn’t do better at the fair – knitting looks lovely, as always.

Thanks so much for posting. You are missed! The hat is lovely, subtle and vibrant like the fall at the same time. Some days the fatigue you describe threatens to become a coma. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks again for posting — it means a lot.

So glad to see you back! Shame on those Fair judges. I would like to see what took the first three prizes. Did they know you had improved the pattern with the jog adjustments? Stunning and beautiful as usual. And love “Da” name! I learned to knit as a 12 year old but did not get the bug until nearly sixty. By that time my mind was so crowded with other things that anything beyond knit and purl was too exhausting to attempt. When I see your work and others like it I am both astounded and wistful that I had not learned when I was young. (Luckily knitting has other techniques that can be almost as satisfying:). Aren’t we all so lucky!
