Wendy in VA asked if I would post a picture of the dress I made — even if it was only on a hanger. Wendy is a very loyal visitor and commenter, so of course I had to comply. Here it is, looking a bit limp and unfilled out.
I love the bell shaped cuff the best. And close up:
You may recognize this as the fabric I bought to make a skirt to go with the Rowan Summer Tweed cardigan of a month or so ago. It does not go with that sweater at all! In the store I thought it worked, but it doesn’t. I bought about 6 yds for some reason, so I had enough to make just about anything.  It is actually a dress under the jacket even though it looks like a skirt.  It will do fine for a one day event, and I can probably wear the dress to work sometime. Â
Thank you, thank you. It was for purely selfish reasons I asked to see your suit. I have a wedding to attend in September, and I need something to wear and was looking for ideas. What you’ve made is really lovely — and I can see that something similar would work for me as well.
I’ve been out looking for some dressy clothes, and cannot find anything that either fits or is suitable for a 50-something woman that doesn’t want to look 16 nor 60. I haven’t made many clothes for myself over the past 10 years or so, but I used to make everything — I think it’s time to start garment sewing again. I switched over to quilts after I had my twins — and that’s been fun — but now I need clothes!
Thanks again for indulging me and posting the pictures. You’re too kind!

Reply from Susan: Thanks, Wendy! I am in the same boat — things look either too young or “OL” (old lady). The jacket is a bit fitted because I wanted the illusion of a waist. If I had known I would never see my waist again, I would have thrown a going away party! This kind of got me in the mood to sew some more.
