From Susan — I hate Knitting Socks, but….

…I do on occasion.  I made these a while ago but did not post them because they were a gift.  So, upon whose tootsies do they reside?  None other than sister Surly!  They are quite small and fit Sally’s petite feet.

mingus socks by you.

The pattern is Mingus Socks from Cookie A.  The yarn is beautiful, but unfortunately I can’t remember what it is!

Have a great weekend! 🙂

PS — and speaking of gifts and Cookie A, Sally ordered this for me!  Sock Innovation: Knitting Techniques & Patterns for One-of-a-Kind Socks by Cookie A.

  4. So lovely!
The subtle striping looks like Shibui to me.

  5. Sally’s socks look gorgeous. What a beautiful color you chose. That pattern is fabulous, too. So many patterns! So little time! If only I’d grow another set of arms and hands so I could knit twice as much as I do now.

  7. Looks like Shibui to me too. I made Cookie A’s Marlene out of a Shibui that looks exactly like that. Beautiful yarn. Love Cookie A’s patterns…

  8. I am a new visitor to your blog and had to comment on your socks. They are gorgeous! You may be interested in the “makin-cookies” Ravelry Group where there will be a monthly KAL to knit one of Cookie’s patterns from her new book.

  9. The socks are really beautiful. I suffer from second sock syndrome… I never seem to finish or even start the second sock.

  10. Oh, Evie — we should work out a system where we each knit one of the same sock and then trade complete pairs around.

  11. So which came first, the gift of the socks or the gift of the book? Or perhaps they happened independently, which would make one of those lovely sister coincidences.

Either way, the socks are wonderful. It’s fun to see how the color striations show up more in the stockinette and are diffused in the patternwork.

  12. Lovely! Cookie A sure knows her way around a pair of handknit socks — I can’t wait for the book.

  13. I gasped when I saw the socks! Perfect marriage of color and pattern. The talented Rainey Sisters are lucky to have one another 🙂
