From Susan — If I Found a Genie in a Bottle

My first wish would be that any knitting project I am interested in would take one day, and one day only, to knit.  In that way, I might possibly be able to experience ALL of the fun projects that I find on Ravelry, in books, in my knitting group or LYS.   It is extremely frustrating to be confined by the limits of time.

Case in point.

Sock Innovations by you.

This book arrived a couple of days ago — it is a very nice book.  Fun read, cute patterns, etc.  There are several socks both Sally and I would like to make, but I am currently trapped by Ode to Joy.  And I do mean trapped.  The never ending sleeve scenario has bogged me down.  My arms are inhumanly long — or so it seems when you are knitting to cover them up.

I did find some fabric for a summer frock — not perfect (it’s a little “out there”) but certainly workable for one of the two I would like to have on hand to wear with my OtJ this summer:

Ode to Joy with Fabric by you.

My next choice will definitely be more subdued.  I’m thinking solid linen or cotton.  Ahhh, another quest!

Now, back to the Genie: my second wish would follow this “WTF?” moment this morning:

Spring Snow by you.

Wish #2 — no snow in April, May, June, July, August, September, or October!!

And, my third wish is none of your beeswax!

  3. I’m with you totally on the “knit it in one day” and the “ugh, snow” sentiments.

  4. The summer frock will be perfect!

  5. I love that fabric. The colours are perfect. Allover pintucks would look nice, especially for a bodice, if you wanted to subdue the pattern a bit. It might come out very prettily abstract.

  8. Susan – I had the same reaction this morning, then my genie granted a wish and I found not one, but two! crocuses in my front lawn this afternoon. We are going to make it to spring, hang in there!

  11. I’d be happy to finish 2 or 3 projects a month. Looks like I’m going to have to go looking for Cookie’s book now. Rats! I was doing so well saving my pennies for the Harvest next month.

  13. do you only permit yourself one project at a time? take a little break from OTJ for a pair of cookiea’s socks!! they go fast. and will provide a little variety for you. picking the pair you want to knit first might present a problem.

  14. I love the fabric. My oldest just moved from Baltimore to Northern Michigan. He is having a hard time with the fact that it is snowing and will continue there tomorrow, and it is April. I am glad to be in the thick of spring!

  15. I love the fabric. I have gone on line and almost ordered the sock book–again and again. And then I thought of all the patterns I already own and all the good ones available for free, and logged out each time without buying. But…if you and your sister both like it, I guess I need it, too.

  16. Love the fabric of your summer frock with your OTJ! I just got Cookie A.’s book as well and share your feelings! So many projects, so little time! At least the snow left quickly! Looking forward to seeing you at Yarnover!
