Not much going on here in the northland! But, I feel a little brave. Tuesday night at ~7 pm as I was just heading out the door for the evening, my younger daughter asked if we would host a pasta party for her soccer team after their game the following afternoon. Hmmm. Many questions came to mind: how many girls would be coming; would the parents be included; how much food would I need; who would shovel clean the house; how do you keep pasta hot for a crowd???? Etc. I do not do a lot of parties at my house, so entertaining is always a dilemma. But, I thought about it and asked myself: do you want to be the mom who says no or the mom whos says yes?? So, I said YES!!
And of course it went off without a hitch! I had enough food for 50…though only 9 girls attended. They all seemed to have fun, and it wasn’t all that much work.
Next time, I won’t need to be brave!!!
PS — The girl hiding in the picture is my little hostess!
Looks like so much fun! Believe it or not, I envy you having teenagers around. Not only will your miss your own when they’ve moved on, but you will miss their friends almost as much –

That’s the ticket! It’s a Good Thing to be a mom-who-says-yes for requests like that! I know many people who would LOVE to have their teen request an event. . . at their own home. . . catered by their own mom. Even if she hides from your camera, you can be assured that she thinks you’re a GREAT MOM! (I adore teenagers, and love having them around my house. Call me crazy. . .)

I remember all those little dilemmas not so long ago – and so glad I worked through them!

I have hosted more ‘team meals’ than I can count, having had 4 kids all involved in multiple sports. I LOVED feeding those kids, and found that high school girls eat as much or more than high school boys! My youngest graduated high school this year, so my DH and I are turning over a new page in our book. Onward!

Pasta is always a success. Nice job pulling it off on short notice!
