  1. They’re lovely. I love looking at the private side too.

Maybe I’m being too critical but having looked at Firebirds, I wonder why she reversed the direction of the leaves on the front and neckbands but not the body of Flora.

  2. From Susan to Marina: it could be because Firebirds is a Jade design (at least I think it is); it could also be because Flora is an earlier design — even AS improved over time!!  Check out the Fair Isle book and you can really see it.  What part of Firebirds is reversed?  I could not tell from the picture on the website.

  3. That’s true that it was an earlier design but according to her representative, those patterns that come with “new” instructions were gone over and rewritten. That would have been the perfect opportunity to “improve” on Flora.

On both the body (might be clearer on http://www.purlwise.com/ ) and sleeves (middle picture, http://www.virtualyarns.com/images/large/firebird.jpg ) the birds are mirror images.

  4. Such a lovely little fish sweater. It was a surprise for me to see a motif like a fish on a fair isle sweater — I suppose I haven’t really looked closely at many samples in the past. Such beautiful knitting. That ribbing is so interesting.

  5. Beautiful fair isle vest. Interesting about the leaves and the design elements. Things a newish knitter like me doesn’t even see. I love the little fish sweater. I’m going to have to look more closely at fair isle — I might just have a small project in me somehow.
