From Both of Us — Ring in the New Year!

Filed under: Updates — Both Sisters @ 10:08 pm

Over the years, our readers occasionally ask why we use what seems, to some, to be a “dated” photograph. We take our readers concerns to heart, so we wanted to show you a truly dated photograph by way of contrast.

 All together now:

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Yes, we were blonde, we were cute — what happened?

  1. Very cute! I’ve often wondered where your blog header photo was taken. It reminds me of a day I spent on Eustacia in the caribbean about ten years ago. Happy New Year!

  2. My sister and I look completely different from our childhood pictures too! Don’t know what that is! As far as your ‘dated’ high school (I presume) pictures, I think that that age embodies the essence of us as sisterly beings, and is very appropriate for a sister blog. Happy New Year to you both!

  7. Hey, I like the photo that headlines your blog! It just conveys that here are two upbeat sisters who are enjoying the journey, whether it’s knitting or living. Love it!

  10. I didn’t realize that the header photograph was dated until I saw you both at the Yarn Harlot’s talk in Minnesota. I poked my sister and said that two women in the back of the room were wearing sweaters that I had seen on the Raineysisters blog, but it couldn’t be the sisters because their hair was shorter. My sister muffled her laughter in her knitting and informed me that the wearers were indeed the Rainey sisters, updated.

    I think you are both wonderful, beautiful, talented, and offer so much to the world in your blog.

  11. I LOVE your header photo. It is from “my” era and makes me smile wnenever I see it.
    And, once cute, always cute. You are no longer “little girl cute” but now “woman cute”. Even better.

  16. I’m so glad that I could scan that photo for your dad, and REALLY glad to see that you’ve used it here. You have always, ALWAYS been beautiful women, and from your younger cousin, far more hip and cool than I ever hoped to be. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

  18. I love the dated photo. Reminds me of my sisters and the years, jeans and hairdos we have been through together. Every set of sisters has their stories…Glad you two post your knitting stories.

  21. I have photos like those, only there were 3 of us and we stair-stepped down. (I’m the youngest.) I also have a cool oil painting where we’re sitting on a bench, in the matchy dresses, stepping down again!
