From Susan — It’s Ba-a-a–ck!

Here is another picture of my Tea Leaves, showing the buttons and the color a bit more accurately:

This picture shows detail from the back:

The color is nearly impossible to capture!  I did make a small change to the ruching in the yoke: I added 2 rows of stockinette to the second line of ruching, and 4 to the third line.  It seemed way too skimpy as written and would not have come down over the shoulders, which I liked.  I also did a crocheted slip st through the cast on row to firm it up — I got carried away and cinched it up too much and may redo it.

Per custom, I took this FO to my Thursday knitting group — it looked great on Kim and great on Mary!  The sleeves fit them perfectly which confirmed to me that they are ~2 inches too short.  Will I go back and fix them?  Not sure!

  1. It’s lovely! It can be ballerina length sleeves. Oh! That is the skirt. Well, something similar. Too short is better than too long. Sometimes.

  2. I like it. If it is a sweater for living in on weekends, the shorter sleeves will be handy for doing chores. But longer ones would be nice for staying snug, if it is more likely to get used when curled up reading.

  3. I am currently working on Tea Leaves; I finished the body and am on my first sleeve. Being a reborn knitter of a sorts–I never finished anything zillions of yrs. ago when I knit–I had some trouble getting the the arm going. I started inside out and had to rip and now am not certain about my picked up stitches–I’ve NEVER picked up a stitch on my own and mine are a little bit awkward looking, but I keep saying to myself, they are the underarm!! I am greatly impressed by your beautiful sweater. The yarn is beautiful; I used the Madelinetosh Vintage Frame as my first choices were all gone. Actually, the color has turned out gorgeous!!

  4. This is the prettiest Tea Leaves cardigan I have seen. I tend to prefer a shorter sleeve- I end of pushing them up all the time anyway. I am tempted to add this to the queue….

  5. It looks just wonderful! I’d leave the sleeves a bit shorter. . . mine always seems to lengthen a bit with wear.

  6. I’ve avoided all the ruched things coming out this last winter. We had a run on Ilga Leja’s Manon Shawl this year at the store. It is a lovely thing but I just didn’t want to go there.

I may have to change my mind and stop avoiding all things ruched.

  7. You have long arms like I do. I hate sleeves that are too short. Even if I decide to push them up at times. I want full coverage.
