From Susan: Call a Doctor!

Filed under: Updates — surly @ 7:28 pm

As many of you already know, our blog has been hit hard by a hacker/virus/whatever!  My own computer became riddled with disease and caused me no end of despair.

Sally is the “man behind the curtain” here at The Rainey Sisters and spent HOURS working on the problem, both with our host-site geeks and through trial and error.

It appears that the problem has been remedied, at least for the time being.  These viruses are pesky and determined, so we can’t make any guarantees!  We are sorry if this caused you any problems and hope things settle down.

  1. As I said when I posted a comment last night, it is NOT your fault. In the last 24 hours I have had three (count them, three) malware infections. The last two (which I got on sites other than yours) were totaly vanquished by Microsoft Security Essentials. It’s a free download and even if you don’t like Microsoft, you’ve got to get this. It works and all the other costly security stuff doesn’t. Susan and Sally, please encourage your readers to get the free download. And, get it for yourselves, of course. So sorry that your website got hacked. There are lots of bad guys in cyberspace, sadly.

  2. The minute I opened your blog yesterday, my computer was hit with a virus. Glad to know it’s fixed now.

  3. Some people need to get a real life. I just don’t understand why they bother to take the time to hack into other peoples computers. I’m sure a lot of them are looking for access to account info, but really. Just to say they did it? I’d rather tell people I helped someone by knitting mittens for a school. It may sound dorky, but I don’t care. I’d really rather help someone than create chaos and havoc in their life. So sorry someone did this to you. They might be trying to prove how smart they are, but I consider it an enormous fail as a person. Not so brilliant – put the brains to better service.

  4. All is well. I knew what not to do, though trying to shut my laptop down was fun. It was time I learned how to do that anyway. Hope the damage on your end isn’t too awful.
