From Susan — In the Neck of Time

Oh, that is bad, even for us!!  I am finally seeing some progress on this crazy sweater!   I decided to do the neckline right away, instead of at the end as written.  I am so glad I did because it was problematic for me — I will say no more 😉 .

Here it is, unblocked as yet, on Lettie.  Lettie thinks it is too small.

I am inclined to agree with Lettie — after all, she has nothing to gain by lying!  BUT, two things: I am trying to lose some weight via WeightWatchers, and I may be able to gain a bit of width with wetblocking.  XXXXXXXX Crossing all fingers and toes!!!

The back:

Here, I had it on the trash heap and now I will have a sweater.  I am pretty pleased with that turn of events!

Today is going to be fun and exciting:  I am involved in a Minnesota Knitters Guild event called Knit-O-Rama.   It is kind of an education day versus knitting workshops.  There will be a few speakers (of which I am one) and some fun activities, including The Ugliest Knitting contest.  I will report back!!

  1. It’s looking good! I really wish I had registered in time to attend. Yeah. A day late and a dollar short. Perhaps I’ll be on the stick in time to register next year.

  2. Oh, I am going to miss you at Knit-o-Rama. I am in the midst of performance appraisal time at work, and I have 15 people on my team. Sigh. My weekend is going to be spent at the computer.

The neckline is lovely, even if it was problematic for you.

And yes, that pun in the post title was really bad. 🙂

  3. I gained a perfect amount of width when I blocked my Alexandria. The Dot Stitch patter on the front flattens out really nicely with blocking. I thought for sure mine was going to be too small, but it ended up being perfect.

  4. I love that sweater. Recently I won a bag of lovely off-white merino. It was serendipitous to see yours in white. Now I know what my bag of yarn will become.

  5. Your Alexandria is beautiful and you seemed to have a found the right yarn for it. Everyone will want one!

  6. Don’t even think about it not fitting until after you’ve done your final blocking and tried it on. It might be a closer fit than you’re accustomed to, but it could still look terrific on you.

  10. Love it! And I’m in the camp that thinks it will block out to size…and that the blocking will erase your missteps with the false seam placement too!
