The top is done. I do need to seek out some better ribbon, but I am not going to travel the globe to find it. I’ll just search as I go along.
Michelle asked for a picture to see if/how it fits:
It fits great. And a picture of the top:
Chalk up another project!! I enjoyed making this. It was probably more for me than for her, but then she gets to wear it. 😉
That is so sweet! About your last sentence, that would be me and occassionally, I wish I had a daughter to sew and knit for. My kids are too conservative to wear Fair Isle!

It’s really beautiful — and it looks great on her — just a little bit, but not too, grown-up. You’ve inspired me to see if my 13 year old might be interested in this.

Hi everybody,
This is the child who is wearing the lace top in the pictures! I lov it so much !! My mommy(Susan) made it just for me and if my sister wants to wear it she can!!

Thanks for the photo! Gorgeous, simply gorgeous! I actually like yours better than the magazine. I can’t believe you whipped that one up so quickly and cleaned your house too! Are you sure you don’t have a little “Samantha Stevens” in you! 🙂

Susan-it turned out just beautiful! I am inspired to try some lace soon. Maybe after I finish the market bag, 2 pairs of socks and the sweater I am working on.
See you Thursday.

Adorable! I just bought the IK issue yesterday (yeah, I’m a little behind — I live so far out in the sticks that I have to drive 25 miles just to get to Mal*Wart; a trip to The Cities is a Big Deal). As I was perusing the mag last night I recognized the lace top. Looking at the model in the magazine, I had some doubts about your making it for a 13-yo — it seemed a little, um, mature (= see-through) for a girl that age. Forgive me! It looks perfect on her — did you line it? Pure genius, and gorgeous knitting, too. She’s a lucky girl.
