Reformed? No. But do I know a good deal when I see one? Yes. I am a bonified yarn snob and proud of it. I don’t buy yarn at Micheal’s or Joanne’s. I love silk, alpaca, cashmere, and pure wool — merino and otherwise. However, I was at a well known discount retailer (rhymes with ball fart) and ran across this yarn in several colors at a ridiculous price. My eldest daughter has been knitting scarves AND is preparing for a December jewelry craft show. She mentioned she would like to try to sell a few scarves at the show. I did not want to invest in the amount of money I spend for yarn on her scarves in case they did not sell. So I bought the cheap yarn in several colors to try out.Â
I decided to see how well it worked before we got too excited. I knitted up this lovely neutral. It is the softest yarn I have ever felt. Ever. It goes perfectly with my “work uniform” (aka, a beige jumper), and I love it. I held it double and used size 15 needles so it would be a super fast knit. Every three ridges I did a double wrap.
I love the very small bits of copper and gold.  So, I have gone to the dark side — at least for one day!!
Would that non-snobbish ball fart yarn be Lion Brand Watercolors? Because if it is, you and I were separated at birth. I just ordered a bunch of it for a charity sweater and a couple scarves; $1.99/ball @ www. smileysyarns.com, which is having a perfectly delightful internet yarn sale. Not a sale that would nessesarily appeal to yarn snobs, you understand, although I did get some Filatura !00% alpaca for $2.00/97-yd ball. Just sayin’.

Oh, snap. That should have read, “…Filatura 100% alpaca for $2.99/97-yd ball.”

I think that was a good choice! The people at arts & crafts shows I’ve been to seem to want “cheap” stuff. Workmanship, material and other things that matter to snobs don’t seem to matter to them! … spoken like a true, toffee-nosed a$$-aicht-ole!

Wow – that came from Sprawl-Mart, huh? What is the fiber content? I am impressed!

Yes — you’re strangely silent on what this stuff is made out of. Spill.

So what yarn is it?

Well, if it has any nylon in it, it’s typically uber-soft, and pretty much irresistable. If it’s 100% nylon, well, look out! And if it’s blue-green, teal, aqua, turquoise or jade, it’s coming home with me! I will now have to go check out the yarn inventory at BallFart!
