From Susan — Happy New Year a Little Late!

Filed under: Updates — surly @ 10:05 pm

That is the story of my life: always running late!

I think I am suffering from the winter blues. Nothing I did today worked. I even got a boo-boo grabbing a bottle of milk out of the case at the store! I started a knitting project that just screams, “WTF were you thinking?” but started it anyway. Time will tell, but all signs are pointing to…blah.

I hope this is not a predictor for the year. 🙁

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Edited to add: I must have been in quite a funk last night when I wrote this!   My perspective is a bit sunnier this morning.  I’m sure the questionable project will end well: whether it gets finished or not 😉 and the light is at the end of the tunnel for Eala Bhan.  I could finish it in a few days if I would just concentrate on it.

Happy New Year, all!!

  1. Some days are just like that. I’m sure it’s not an omen for the coming year. 🙂 Remember to sing, “Oh, the sun’ll come out, tomorrow…”, now and then, on a day like this one. 🙂

  2. Ahh-h-h, snow. It looks so peaceful, and so inviting to sit and knit! I’m probably the one person in Northern Virginia who enjoyed all the snow here last February. Enjoy your blog – love your knits! Inspiring!

  3. Oh dear…. Whenever I try to sing “The sun’ll come out tomorrow,” I end up with a snarky chorus of “Tomowwow, tomowwow, we’ll all puke on dis tomowwow,” or something worse. Actually, it does perk me up, as I come up with ever more ridiculous riffs on it. And sometimes the “WTF Was I Thinking” projects turn out waaaay better than expected. (viz. my fish hat from Knitty and my wooly dreads a la Wooly Wormhead.) If not? Frogging the whole damn thing can be really satisfying. Tomowwow, tomowwow, Susie may like it better tomowwow! She’ll put on her boots and stomp on it tomowwow!

  4. Hysterical that I jammed my finger reaching into my own refrigerator yesterday afternoon, so hard that whatever I smacked it against gave me a blood blister on the tip of my finger. I think it’s also the post holiday letdown. However, I cannot bring myself to take down the tree … not because I’m not sick of it (I am), but because I don’t want to put away all the ornaments. I’d like the elves to do it …

  5. Sometimes we just have a ‘funky Monday’ – especially difficult after the long holiday season! and now back to ‘real life’ (whatever that is??!!??)!

I’m pretty sure it going to be an amazing year! and I’m looking forward to learning a lot about knitting (and other stuff) from you and Sally! Thanks so much for sharing so much with your readers! I love your blog!!

  7. It is the dark, you know. This is when the full affect of all the dark that has been accumulating all fall really hits us. My prescription for you is to 1. get out into the sun…which has been a little hard to do lately, seeing how the darn thing has been hiding behind the clouds…but fresh air works too. 2. Read seed catalogues and gardening books even if you don’t garden. 3. And knit something you will never wear, but that is absolutely lovely.

  8. Just watch out for dropped cups! I get blue this time of year, too, I think it’s part of the process. Happy NEw Year Susan.

  9. Beautiful snow picture! I moved south in 1980 and have only seen a couple of good snows since then. The only reason I would move back north is to knit wool all year long!!

  10. The snow is gorgeous! It’s really cold here in the Metro area right now, but no snow…just lots of cold wind!
