From Susan — Can You Say, “Good Timing”?

Oh, my!  Lookie what came today!!!!  I am again BESIDE myself, but this time in a good way.  The Kauni fairy left me a box with six of the biggest, fattest skeins of yarn you have ever seen.

The colors are spectacular — quite bright and sunny — and it appears that the weight of the yarn is slightly heavier than fair isle jumper weight yarn.  Next task: roll this puppy into a MEGABALL and start swatching.

And why is the timing so critical?  Remember when I said that this is the new “it” knitting project?  More prophetic words could not have been spoken.  The Yarn Harlot just started the Kauni Cardigan and posted about it on her blog!  I am so glad our order preceded THAT little announcement!  Whew!  Timing is everything…

  1. Ugh! I read somewhere else that it was thinner than jumperweight!

OK, here’s a question … can the two be knitted together in the same garment? This ( the original Armagh is in black and white) is what I want to do but because both colourways have “dark bits”, I was thinking of using a plain J&S for one of the colours.

  2. Susan- Hooray- it finally arrived!

I’m using a 3.5mm on my cardigan, and it definitely is thicker than jumperweight.
The fun begins when you put the skeins on the ball winder. I had to break my skeins
    into 3 separate balls.

  4. That sure was good timing. I bet the Kauni people are going to be overwhelmed with orders. The colours look so very bright. It would certainly be fun to knit with all that cheer.

  9. I love your blog! I’m always checking to see what you two are up to and the progress on your projects. Your work is just beautiful. I am knitting the GAAA and thoroughly enjoying it. I found the project whilst cruising the web and then had to wait 3 months for the pattern to arrive. I’ve reworked a couple of squares, to get better results, but think I will have completed all the squares in about 2 months. Must keep on whilst I burn with the passion (bordering on obsession). I found this website which I don’t know if you’ve seen, but since she is also working on the Kauni, thought you may be interested.http://www.purlwise.com

I would love to try my hand at the mermaid sweater, or indeed kimono jacket but must finish the Afghan first.

    Best wishes, KS
