Thank you for the nice comments about the Diamond Fantasy Shawl. I am really enjoying it and it is not too much “laceness” to take along.Â
One of my best friends is having a birthday tomorrow — here is the card I am giving her:
Inside: …but we’re still pretty hot!!
I about choked when I saw this in the store — can you guess which one I am?? 2funny4words!
Sally and I were just conversing about stashes and how yarn can morph into something less than desireable over time (“What was I thinking?”). There are classics that we could never part with and others that do not improve with time. Stash clean up, Aisle 10! 😉
Â
That would be me, in my slippers, knitting. Too funny.

I was bemoaning my stash earlier this week, after I’d entered a good portion it into Ravelry. But today, looking at it, it makes me happy. Glad I could get myself back to that happy stash place. 🙂
And that card is priceless!

Does any husband understand stashes? I have Norwegian yarn left over from when my mother was young and used to knit while my father read to us. Plus all that I have acquired in 40+ years of knitting.

Sometimes I love my stash and sometimes I hate it — it feels like a burden or a reminder of impulsive, bad choices. I’m going to send a lot of my stash to my sister. It will be gone but not permanently if I freak out later.

That card is hilarious! I have a lot of super old stash yarn that I don’t want to knit tomorrow, but that I can’t quite get rid of (like 40 skeins of old Patons Kroy in solids). My mother’s stash is even worse; she used hers to make argyle socks for me in junior high (shudder). I think everyone has that problem….

Susan- Great card, love the pooch!
I think that is an interesting topic, the relationship we have with our stashes.
Sometimes, it’s not good to buy too far ahead- you simply lose interest, or your
skills surpass the project. The “What was I thinking” syndrome.
Surly is great- she can pass some on, and take it back if she needs to. My sister
and I “Indian Give” all the time.
Glad I hung on to all my Campion! (couldn’t resist a little gloat!)

I keep all of my Campion and other similar yarns just to have on hand. I have a whole trunk of it.

Great card! I would need a good week (alone) to even put it all in one place.

I was just pondering my stash this week. It’s not much by most stash standards. BUT – there are some things that make me wince.
I’m going to my sister’s house tomorrow night. She loves all yarn – regardless of the fiber or color. I think maybe some of my yarn should live with her.

That card is priceless.
I just put all my stash into one (well three, as it turned out) place/bins. It was a little unnerving, it’s a lot easier to stay in denial when it’s all over the place. Also there were more than a few WTH? skeins in the stash.
