I thought I was really on a roll. This Kauni thing is easy and kind of addictive. HOWEVER, you still need to PAY ATTENTION!! Just a little bit! I mis-counted my rows and obviously spaced out.  I was almost to the armhole steek when I noticed that I had added a few rows and switched polarity on my foreground and background colors.Â
It would not have been that big of a deal, but as I said to Sally, “It is bugging me now, it will bug me tomorrow, and it will be all I can see when I look at this sweater.” To which she replied, “Hang up and start ripping.” Â
Right under the blue marker are two red lines: one with 2 rows and a single row red stripe. That is where I screwed up. The background of the next section should be red with blue squares.  I would have left it as is if I had not done such a bold red line. It just screamed “M-I-S-T-A-K-E” at me. So, it is gone. I did as Surly told me: I hung up and ripped. It was painful, but like ripping off a bandaid, it is over and done with. Time to move on!!
Mis-kaunted! Snort! 🙂
It would drive me insane, too. I agree with Sally. Happy ripping! 😛

Horray! You get the fun of knitting it again!

Been there, done that. I had to rip out my Bohus about three inches TWICE. Lived through it though.
Your sweater looks gorgeous.

Susan- Surly is wise- it would bother you forever.
It’s deceptive in it’s simplicity, because you do have to pay attention.
Think of the horror if you had cut the steek, and then noticed!
I have to go lie down.

From Susan — The horror is right, Lorraine!! Now I need to go lie down! 😉

Well, perhaps there is a little consolation in knowing that you have done the rest of us knitters, who are so humbled by your skill and expertise, a great favor. When I make a mistake like that, which is not infrequent, I feel like such an inattentive idiot, and that only I could do such a thing. So to see that my knitting heroine slips up occasionally is a great comfort – thank you for sharing, and courage in the ripping!

From Susan to Ali — I’ve made every mistake there is! As a self-taught knitter, I’ve learned from my many mistakes over the years. It is a painful way to learn, but you usually remember the lesson :).

It actually took me a bit to see it, but I would have ripped too. You’ll be glad you did. Looking good!

I’m with you — ri-i-i-ip it! That kind of thing would bother me forever if it were mine, even if I didn’t see your error until you pointed it out.

Very clever title today! Also smart to remove what bugs you, you’ll rest easy about it.
It’s looking so very nice!

I arsed mine up too. Am ripping. That will teach both of us to say what an easy knit it is.

Aggh! I feel for you…..

Once the ripping is finished, it’s easier to forget how far you were. In the long run, you’ll be happier. Plus it gave us a blog subject.

A subtle mistake, but like many subtle things, once it seeps into your awareness, you cannot ignore it. Can’t put the genie back into the bottle. Courage, knitter, courage. And thanks for sharing your mishaps with the rest of us — it makes us all feel less, er, dumb.

Good choice – especially because the color progression isn’t really random. I always tell myself, when ripping, that it’s OK – I’ve lost some time on a project, but what would I have done with that time? Knit of course!

welcome to the Kauni Klub! same thing sorta happened to me – you can check my travels on my blog … but I DID finish it and am on to Kauni Deux – which I have put onto the back “burner” due to the extreme heat –
looks gorgeous,

Holy frijoles! This is beautiful! And I sympathize. I’d get grumpy about the error in the color progression, too. So glad that someone posted your blog and this archived page at Yarn Harlot’s report of her ripping episode. I look forward to looking around your other projects.
