From Susan — Kissin’ Kaunis

As luck would have it, Kim’s Kauni invited my Kauni to koffee.  Kim and I had to drive them so we had coffee, too.  I took a picture of the Kissin’ Kaunis side by side (mine is on the left, Kim’s on the right):

You might be saying to yourself, “Hmmmmm.  What is all the hoo ha about?”  I’m not sure.  They look different.  They certainly look different in real life.  But row for row they aren’t crazy different.

Feel free not to vote for your favorite (our Kaunis are very sensitive), but I thought I would share their klose encounter of the Kauni kind.

  1. The diffences are subtle, but I see what you mean. I think they are both lovely and that maybe it is a case of the grass being greener on the other side of the fence.

  2. You know how color can make things look larger or smaller, close or far away, etc.? I think that the squares on the right side one look shorter and wider because of the subtle difference in colors. They are both lovely and I would like to knit one for myself.

  3. What cool yarn to have so many variations in exactly the same colorway. I love them both. I especially like the small squares in your modification and really am looking forward to the finished product.

  4. It seems to me that she has colors on opposite sides of the color wheel coming together. She has blue with orange and green with red. Perhaps that is causing some color vibes to be sent out.

  5. They’re both super gorgeous. I really would be happy to have either one. In fact, if you don’t like yours, I would be more than happy to offer it a loving home. :g:

btw, welcome to Ravelry! I “friend”ed you. 🙂

  6. It almost looks like hers is sequencing slightly differently. There is a section where the two look almost identical, but they cycle differently. Or maybe it’s the wine I had with dinner.

  7. They are both gorgeous and will definitely have to have play dates together for all kinds of things in the future. At the moment, I’m leaning to the one on the left, can’t say why, just “feels” like a favorite. But you know, on alternate Tuesdays and 4th Sundays, I may just as well favor the other one. Imagine when they are beheld in different lighting?! Candlelight! Moonlight! and so on. Have fun

  8. I love the purple/green combo on the left and I love the green/red combo on the right. You couldn’t get both, right? They’re both wonderful. Thanks for posting them at their Koffee Klatch.

  9. Susan- I think it’s to do with the way the colors morph into each other.
    I think.
I’m probably not a good person to offer an opinion, as I got to the underarms,
    and frogged.

  11. The one on the right seems to have picked up a more Bohus-ish, mid-stripe fade effect of the colors, which I think gives it a more subtle, less obviously striped effect. To extend LaurieM’s comment, the right hand one has mostly complementary color stripes (green-red, blue-orange) while the left one has more areas of blue-red combination, which is well known to create an optical effect of appearing to shimmer or vibrate. It will be interesting to see how they compare when the right hand one is farther along. This is a very serendipitous project!

  12. I can tell there is a difference but I don’t see that one is prettier than the other. I think it’s pretty much like your children. You love them both and like their differences but one isn’t better than the other

  13. I can’t see much of a difference. Love them both.

  14. OK, I’m weird about my colors, but I pretty much only like green next to blue. And so I like yours better, because it has that combo. Where the green hits in Kim’s appeals to me less. But as I say, I’m weird about my colors, most especially green.

  15. Are you nuts! I am much more drawn to the one on the left. It is gorgeous!
