We joined 7.9 million viewers to watch the Season 3 premiere of Downton Abbey, again amazed by the grandeur of the home and the splendor of the fashions. My hubby and I laughed at what our house would be named: Dumpy Abbey did not sound quite classy enough, so we settled on ‘Downtrodden Abbey’ to describe the grand mess of our home and the squalor of the fashions.
A compilation of some great Lady Grantham quotes:
La la la la la la la — I haven’t watched it yet. Noooooo. Must stay a virgin.

Don’t you just love Maggie Smith?

I have loved Maggie Smith forever. She is quite simply the best at that sort of uptight, opinionated English woman. I watched Murder by Death the other night and she is just fantastic. I must rewatch The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie soon too. But Downton? Downton is going to have to wait till I order the 2nd and third season because somewhere along the line, I missed season 2 and missed all but the first replay before Christmas, and was celebrating Ukrainian Christmas (Julian calendar) last Sunday. But I will get there.
Also a spelling error. Grand mess of your home really ought to be grandmess, no space. Its just more elegant.
Also, can I steal that phrase?

Without wishing to give away any spoilers lets just say it’s a brilliant season – much improved on season 2 – and there are many more wonderful wonderful Maggie Smith lines to come.

Downtrodden Abbey — I love it. In that vein, my home shall now be called Downtrodden Alley. For those who haven’t watched yet, I recommend watching it as 2 separate hours, as they showed it in the UK. For me it would have worked better with a break after a certain significant event.
