From Susan — Will Knit for Love and Acceptance

The food of life!  DD the Eldest asked for another Hitofude!  I made her a red one out of MTL tart that she wears constantly.  She loves the style and wanted another to wear to work.  How could I resist?

The yarn is scrumptious and from my stash: Sweet Fiber Merino Lite in color Sapphire (100% merino, 475 yds to 115 gms), an on-line Ravelry-inspired purchase.  It is very squishy and is a really deep blue with specks of lighter color showing through – like denim jeans.

I am teaching the Hito class at The Yarnery and thought if I made it during the class I could use my own knitting to demonstrate technique, construction, etc.  The problem is I am a bit behind!!  The entire top rectangle needs to be done by Saturday!  Oh well!

Surly is still travelling and I have been super busy lately so our blogging will be a trickle for the time being.  Hope your summer is splendid!

  4. I’m going to have to find some yarn to make one of these for myself. It’s so beautiful, I like this blue one a lot.

  6. Looking good! Is this going to be a standard Hitofude, or maybe a sweet dreams edging? I thought that sweet dreams variant looked so good… Love the blue color. I have one in progress, but it is in time-out while I do baby stuff. Mine is grey and black. I used short rows so that the upper arms can be loose enough for a big girl like me, but with a narrow wrist. We’ll see how it works out…

3 baby layettes and a big brother blankie. Mom took big brother (3 yrs) via the big red trolley downtown to walk around in the gaslamp district while Comicon was in full swing. Lots of costumes on the sidewalks, and I heard he went nuts for the spidermen and the trolley. So I made him a spiderman blankie so he’ll have something to open at little sister’s baby shower.. It’s hard when 25 people show up with presssies and none are for him.

Wish I could take your class. I’m in San Diego.

  8. Someday you will see me on the street because of our nearly identical knitwear. I just cast this on last week in an almost the same color purchased from the Grinning Gargoyles visit to the Twin Cities in 2012…or was it 2013….Last week I was just toying with it, this week I have the time to give it the attention it deserve. Fall will be here before we know it!
