From Susan — There’s a Hood in my Future

Filed under: Roslin Fair Isle Hoodie — lv2knit @ 12:45 am

It is amazing to me that this pattern is working!  I know I should trust the designer 😉 , but even though the number cruncher is moi, I was not very trusting.  So the fact that it is working makes me very happy.

I have about 2.5 more inches of raglan shaping to do and then the hood.  I hope to be blocking by this weekend, which means there is no way I’ll be blocking by this weekend!  My self imposed “deadlines” rarely mean anything at all, except minor to major disappointment…

I have been hauling this thing to work and getting a row or two done on break.  It’s a lot to drag around, but the knitting is mindless and fun!!

PS: The temperature is supposed to drop 45 degrees between now and tomorrow, with 50 below wind chill — even WE [Minnesotans] can’t believe it’s happening to us!

PS2: The windchill is only 34 below — positively balmy compared to -50!  I am 3″ into the hood!  Maybe I’ll be wearing this bad boy next week…

  1. You better knit faster then to get this hoodie done, either to wear it or to get yourself warm by knitting 🙂

  2. Susan- You’re going to need that sweater in the next few days. It’s perfect, stylish and warm.

    A Rainey is always stylish.

  3. I agree with Lorraine…. a Rainey is always stylish. That’s why you guys (and I
include Lorraine) always have gorgeous, perfectly finished sweaters!

I have enough in my stash for this sweater. Yes I do!

  4. It’s looking great. I will be starting the Ballerina sweater soon. For
some reason I am hesitent to start it. I am trying to get a ton of other
small stuff out of the way first but I keep putting it on the back burner
and finding more small stuff to do. Go figure.
I can’t wait to see what’s on your needles next.

  6. Looks great. You must knit 24/7! In MN it’s a survival skill!

  7. Minus 50 wind chill? Now I remember why my family moved from our native Minnesota and settled in Texas! My aunt, now in her 80s, lives in a Mpls. suburb, and still loves the MN winters!

  8. I can’t wait to see it. I know you’ll love yours as much as I do mine. How are you working the neck opening? It looks different. If you continued in the round that far up, how did you do it?

  9. question for the designer 🙂
    that would be you….
is there an easy way to convert the hoodie into a hoodless type neckline? I love the pattern and actually love the whole sweater but cannot “do hoods” Its a weirdness of mine 🙂
