We had an annoying little snow today, causing me a 2 hour plus drive home. Comes with the territory. Did not enjoy it.
And then I took the dog out last night one more time before going to bed. Billions of diamonds had been tossed across the snow. That sparkling snow you only see in movies or on Christmas cards. It was breathtaking. I tried to capture the firefly in a bottle, but this very short-lived miracle of nature will be gone quickly.
Snow is a rare and short-lived occurrence where I live now. Your photos made me a little nostalgic and homesick for the Midwest winters of my childhood.

Thanks for sharing the fleeting moment. I love the gifts nature sends us even if they sometimes add extra time to the commute or hours of shoveling.

It’s moments like these that make us remember that there is magic in every season. Thanks for the pictures!

We are deep into, “How long until Spring?” here, but what a nice way to capture one of those beautiful moments of winter.

I had exactly the same experience on Tuesday – maybe it was repeated thousands of times in the Twin Cities on that day. I didn’t even see the sparkle until I had made it through the two-hour commute. Of course, I also pulled out my phone to try to capture the look but was defeated by the darkness.

Don’t sell yourself short in your photography expertise. I see many “carats” in your photo! So in addition to being a very accomplished knitter, you are now “dripping in diamonds”, too. Cathy

Oh, I love the diamonds glints on snow; they make me smile. Your photos are great! There is a beautiful poem about loss and it mentions snow just like this; the poem is too pretty not to share… I hope you don’t mind; it’s by Mary Elizabeth Frye.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
