I loved Sally’s Waiting for Rain shawl – it is so unique and the color so stunning.  So I decided that I wanted one, too!

While out visiting the “Surly One” we made a quick stop at Fibre Space.  They were carrying a special order of “big wheels” in a variety of yarns.  Hazel Knits Artisan Sock Big Wheels carry a whopping ~800 yards at a $48 price.  I chose Quill, which has an overall gray cast with hints of brown and blue.  Very pretty.  Just not as pretty as Sally’s Sedge green 🙁 .

It is done.  I really like it — love the size and the shape for wearability.  Not yet convinced about the color!!

PS to Janet from Susan — Jean Moss Knitting Tour

Wasn’t that just a wonderful experience??  It was a highlight of Sally’s and my knitting life to dine with Alice that evening before her class!  I probably am the one who mentioned the author – it was Monica Ferris.  She did come to my knitting group several times, but I doubt that she wrote about me per se.  She did use the unusual name of a fellow knitter as one of her characters, and also tapped into our expertise for general knitting knowledge!!  She has not appeared in years but is welcome back any time!!

  6. I think you would like the color better if you didn’t have Sally’s to compare it to. Maybe after you’ve worn it several times it will have gained its own separate personality, especially when you begin the fun of combining it with colors in your outfits – sometimes that takes a while, then all of a sudden something catches your eye in your closet or a store rack and boom! You love it. It is certainly beautiful.

  8. I love love love that stormy blue! It’s a beautiful work and a lovely pattern. Thanks to the two of you, I think I might need to copycat too!

  9. I love the color — but it may be one of those colors that isn’t so much pretty as a color, as it is a good color to wear. Also, the slices of lace are especially pretty in that darker color.

  10. I LOVE the color. It will go with everything. Wear it to a fiber festival over jeans and a white T-shirt and you will have people following you to take pictures.

  12. 5.22.2014 Love your website and have for a long time….I prob drive you crazy for comments like loving the table cover several posts back—for which you provided me with sources detailing where you made that from…I checked it all out and thanks again…….but something else was gnawing in a corner of my mind…..had I ever “seen” you before…..and then one day I was leafing through one of my Alice Starmore books….aha …there it was…on the list of participants on the Jean Moss Tour to Edinburgh there you both were….me too from Edison NJ….some of my family were living in York at that time (they now live in Wisconsin) and came to see me at the last hotel stop….we had Jean and Alice as teachers….wonderful classes….I remember you both coming down to breakfast lines in your un-ending wardrobe of Fair Isle sweaters….and I think I remember your telling us that you had a cozy mystery writer in your guild back home who wrote you into her stories as characters….who was she????Monica Ferris?….anyway I remember you both as very happy and sunny and always thirsty for knowledge…..I had bought yarns from Alice and the dates on my email exchanges to her company was 2002….am I right? memory mystery solved? I really liked that trip…I have gone on Jean’s website and she is taking time off but now leading tours to France and somewhere else…
