From Susan — Let’s Review!

Susanne asked about the fabric I showed on the blog in reference to my very orange Newsom – at least I think this is the one she was talking about!!

I was deciding between a dress and a shirt and opted for the shirt.  Got it done, but it doesn’t go with the sweater!  It fits funny when worn together.

But, I do like the shirt and wear it a lot.  I get comments every time because it is so “out there!”  Fun and bright for summer!

I am off now for the holiday and KNITTING CAMP which starts next Thursday.  I am so not ready!!  Sally arrives on Wednesday and I plan on taking her to Blue Bamboo, now that she is such an accomplished seamstress!!

PS — A couple of you asked me about the pattern.  It is Butterick B4231.  Long out of print but still available: Amazon has sizes 8-10-12, and both Etsy and Ebay have it in sizes 14-16-18.  I recently bought a replacement for my copy because it has been used so often!!

  5. How beautiful your blouse is! What a nice print, and the colors, too. This kind of thing makes me wish I could sew. It looks great with the shawl, too bad about the sweater. Enjoy knitting camp.

  6. Thanks for the update! That is a gorgeous shirt! too bad the sweater doesn’t “go” but you have created a gorgeous combo…

  7. Yeah, I’ve noticed that long-sleeved shirts in particular tend to scrunch up under sweaters. Do you have enough fabric left over to make a sleeveless shell? If not, that beautiful shawl certainly works perfectly.

  8. Susan, Once again you have “overachieved”……fabric choice, fit, color, addition of your small shawl. I absolutely LOVE IT! I just realized that one month of our “summer” is over! Hope to get back to Mpls to knit again soon. Cathy

  10. With the shirt pattern you could trace the pattern with wax or tracing paper and use that for cutting out fabric. Saves the original from much wear and tear. Plus you can trace multiple sizes, or grade between, if ever necessary.
