Hope you had a wonderful holiday! Ours was extremely low key this year, which was all I could muster!!
Well, I finally made it to eternity!! I finished this blankety-blank afghan in time to give it to my daughter for Christmas. Once I focused and saw the light at the end of the tunnel, I did 8 inches in one day!!
The pattern is Umaro and I used Berroco Vintage Chunky, Color Sunny. I forgot to weigh it to see how much yarn it took. I forgot to take good pictures. I think I wanted to forget the whole thing!! 😉
Buh-bye, Umaro!!
PS — DD loved it! She uses it constantly so that makes it all worthwhile.
It’s beautiful, though! I also did some Christmas knitting for my daughter – I think it’s the deadline that makes it something of a slog. I’ve also knit Umaro, though as a baby blanket. I don’t think I’d have the persistence to knit an afghan with the same pattern all over it, though that’s what makes a more elegant FO. Congratulations – you did it!

It may take an eternity, and be rather boring and/or annoying, but it turned out beautifully. I hope your daughter loved it.

This is gorgeous!!!! I totally understand about it being a slog but the final product is so worth it! Your daughter will treasure it! How special.
Hope to see you on Thurs!

Beautiful knitting and color. The afghan will warm up any room all winter long.

Hah! I just purchased some super bulky yarn and decided NOT to knit this pattern with it! I thought the yarn-overs and seed stitch looked like too much of a pain with such large needles. Thanks for validating my choice!
…Though yours does look gorgeous, and I’m sure your daughter will spend far longer loving it as a blanket than you spent hating it as a project!

I am making it off and one between priority projects. Wish I’d get it done. It takes up so much space as a WIP, not like a cowl made of fingering yarn. Using Encore Mega, truly super bulky. I put a lot of markers on the project and that makes it go a little easier. Yours is beautiful and I hope mine turns out half as well.

I hear ya’. I have a never ending poncho project that I can’t stand to knit more than four rows a day on before I start screaming. I can only hope when I finally finish the last skein and put it all together it’s even a quarter as beautiful as your blanket turned out. Your daughter is very lucky to get this.

I’ve made three Umaros, ordered yarn for a fourth, for me, and just couldn’t do it. I settled on an easier pattern with
huge cables in it, Sutter’s Mill Throw.
Umaro is gorgeous though!

I hated knitting the Umaro. It took me over a year and I ended up saying “I’m done with this!” and ended it early. Luckily, my mom is none the wiser that’s a bit wider than longer 😉
