Sometimes Susan and I like to work on ambitious projects. Sometimes we don’t. As I mentioned recently, I saw this cute and free pattern on Ravelry and decided I needed a pair. Immediately. I rummaged through my stash et voila! Kitty cat socks. Meow.
I used Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply Toes in Pewter (one of the colors for my Breathing Space which is finished except for one sleeve) and Shibui Staccato in Ash. The pattern is written as a toe up sock with a short row heel. I’ve found that I get a better fit with a more typical gusset heel so I knit these top down.
My daughter has now requested a pair in pink and gray. I liked that idea so I’m going to knit myself a second pair. Her colors are the deeper, brighter ones. But don’t worry. I do have more ambitious projects on my needles!
Oooo! I’m just about to cast on a pair of Meow socks! I plan a top-down knit as well. So cute!

I’d make a pair for myself, but can’t figure out what shoes to wear them with. The straps on mary-jane type shoes would cut right across the cats’ faces, while clogs would cover them entirely. What to do?

I mostly plan to wear mine around the house almost as slippers. I know what you mean — how to show them off?

Hmmm . . . the pattern could readily be modified to become a pair of mittens or fingerless gloves, or even a hat. Possibilities!

Such happy, self-satisfied cats are sure to keep you cozy!
