Greetings!  We wanted to let you know that we just posted one of our best Tip of the Weeks ever!  It is something that Gretchen Funk shared with the Campers and it is fabulous: needle felted steeks!  This is an amazing technique for fair isle knitters.  Check it out on The Rainey Sisters Ravelry Group!!

  1. Absolutely brilliant! I’m going to have to remember that the next time I’m steeking something. Thank you.

  4. Comparing that to my one and only effort at steeking— a successful, but messy, machine-stitched steek, I am so impressed!!!!

  6. Isn’t it just magic. I took a gauge swatch from a previous fair isle sweater, and it works, it works, it works. Love it.

  8. I kind of wondered about this. I have a Freyja Lopapeysa that I never got around to finishing the steeked edge on, and it felted up as I wore it. Eventually I trimmed it short and it was perfectly fine. I never got around to doing another steeked garment but I have several coming up this winter. It is great to know that it works!

  9. I crochet steeked a Christmas tree skirt and I notice some of the floats were not caught. I was wondering about felting the edge even though I’ve already made the cut. I would then put the button edge on. Any thoughts?
