From Susan — YouTube!

Yes, I am on Youtube!  Remember when I said I had been interviewed by Kristy Glass?  The video is now playing on her YouTube Channel.  It is horrifying to watch yourself for that length of time…

PS to DivaDar: I agree!  Kristy was so sweet and really seemed interested in what I had to say.  She was a really good interviewer!

PS2 to Deborah: I did knit the gold and blue bird sweater in the round and steeked it.  You do the neck or armhole shaping on either side of the steek.

  1. I really enjoyed the Kristy Glass interview with you. Now I can put a face with all the wonderful entries you have at the Mn State Fair. And I now that I know more about your knitting journey, I really appreciate the time and thought that go into your design. I always appreciated it before, but now I’m blown away! Congratulations on your interview with Kristy and thank you for inspiring knitters to challenge ourselves.

  5. I really enjoyed your interview, so inspiring to see all your knits! I wish I could take a colorwork class from you, but I live in The Netherlands and my girls are very small so it is not possible unfortunately. I will definitely check out your hat pattern with the technique for long floats.

  7. I loved every minute of the interview. I tried everything I could to get to the retreat in Oct, but in the end it didn’t work out. It would be amazing if you were to have a Craftsy class on finishing….or anything else for that matter.

  9. Susan Rainey, you are my hero. I met you when you came to my North Loop condo when WendyKnits was in town and have hung on your word ever since.
Thank you for this fabulous interview! I love that your curious mind drove you to understand that it’s not about just following the pattern but about reading your knitting and adjusting accordingly. I’m a champion at following directions, adjusting the pattern, not so much. I continue to be your #1 fan. Thank you for being such an inspiration and for your generous heart.

    Sincerely,
Catherine S., President of the Susan Rainey Fan Club

  10. I follow your website because we share the same name and am delighted to learn more about you. I knit a lot in my teens and twenties and remember the magazine Woman’s Day as a remarkable source of patterns, largely because I think Elizabeth Zimmerman was a major force. At one point, circular shawls based, I think, on Nieblings patterns were featured.

  11. Susan, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your interaction with Kristy and was inspired to do more knitting. Late to knitting at age 55 or so due to starting a prayer shawl ministry in my former church, I remember each project made – wanting each one to be different. You are very inspiring with your passion and attention to detail. Love keeping up with your blog!

  14. Susan, so nice to have ‘met’ you and who better to introduce us than Kristy Glass! She really let you tell your story in your own way. Your craftsmanship is impeccable and inspiring.
I totally agree with you: I can’t *not* knit!

  15. I really enjoyed your interview. You’re knitting skills are inspiring! I’m so glad that I’m not the only one that has to rip out knitting to fix mistakes.

  17. Wonderful interview! I go to your site when I want to be inspired by fine knitting. Your work is so elegant. Did you knit the yellow sweater in the round and then steek? And, if so, how did you manage the v-neck? If you did this flat I am entirely in awe forever by your ability to remain sane while knitting.
