I just finished my Arabella Cowl out of the yarn called for: Rowan Alpaca Classic. It was designed as a launch for the yarn. Last August, my peeps and I travelled from shop to shop collecting the colors. It was a LONG and annoying knit, but like most long, annoying knits, I like it now that it’s done! My lemming project is complete.
Most of us opted not to make it a moebius — good decision. I changed up a couple of colors. In doing so, I got to the end and though it too garish. So, I dug through my stash and found a skein of charcoal gray, somewhat fuzzy, yarn which I suspect to be Classic Elite Fresco!! My cowl is 10 inches wide and 63 inches long. I think it is quite attractive!
PS to vpurl: what was annoying were the endless rows (>300 sts) and certain sts: seed stitch, stranding. It seemed like every row was interminable!
PS2 to Kathy: The gray was much fuzzier than the other colors so that part should get easier. It is a lot of knitting but so butter soft and pretty!
Quite attractive? It’s full-on gorgeous. I love that fuzzy gray. Was there something in particular that annoyed you about the pattern?

Ditto. And love the colors you chose.

Love your Arabella! I have the beginning gray ribbing completed and ready to start the next pattern. Being true to my usual ripping behavior, I had to rip a lot as that fuzz made the ribbing extra dificult to “read” my knitting! I agree – the rows are sooooo long! Will carry on as I really love the cowl. I also changed my decision to change the colors and decided to go back to the original as shown on pattern. Sigh! I know I will love it. Do I want it for myself or for a dearly loved family member? We will see……. Thanks for sharing yours!

Your blog is so inspiring! I have a question about the Rikke hat. I just completed my first one and I used a 16″ circular for the main part until I got to the area where it was too stressful on the yarn and switched to dpns. That’s where my issues began–the size of my stitches was not consistent. Frankly that area looks like I’m a novice knitter, especially from the decrease area to the end. What kind of needles did you use? Thank you Sally
