From Susan — Feeling the Need to Heid

If I am like many of you, I have too many knitting books in my collection.  I found one the other day that was just awful — where did it come from??!!?

But, I love knitting and that means occasionally getting bit by the knitting book bug!  I pre-ordered this book and got the Ravelry link today.  The first printing already sold out so I’m glad I pre-ordered when I did!

104 pages of beautiful stranded hats!  Wow.  The hat that forced me against my will to buy the book is Every Flavour:

It spoke to me!!  I thought I would find most of the colors in stash but my stash betrayed me.  Maybe I need to buy more yarn…??

  1. Oh, no! Not more yarn.

    Love that cover photo.

  2. Of course you do! I, too, pre-ordered the book. Out of the 15 hats included I think there are probably only a couple that I don’t want to knit.

  3. I bought this after I saw her first instagram post. I have lots of yarn that will work, but I think I might spring for one of them out of her yarn. Support a maker, right? See what the yarn is like?

  4. I can’t wait to see what you knit from that book! I’m on a it of a knitting frenzy with hats. I have more than I will ever wear, so I’m going to start leaving them on trees in a park where homeless often wander at night. I am obsessed with your invisible stranding technique and was wondering (HOPING) you would give some tips on using this technique while knitting 3 colors. Please???

  5. If this hat is named after Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans in Harry Potter, then that is awesome. 🙂

  6. Felix’ hat is my favorite!

  7. I agree about “Every Flavour” — and I confess that I ordered the kit to make it.

I love most of the hats in this book and am excited because I think I am going to be able to dip into my impressive mini skein collection to make a number of them!

  8. I tend to look at knitting books as reference works which justifies all kinds of new purchases, and unfortunately for my bulging bookcase, in knitting there is always something new to learn and hence to reference. Looking forward to your Every Flavour!

  9. Love my books, but I have to move and pack my precious friends.

  10. OK. Now for the beads. I’ve avoided this endeavor like the plague, but you have broken my resolve. The toggling pom moms are sweet! I recently ordered from Kate Davies and am still eyeing the yarn with trepidation. The colors are exquisite but the single-ply fingering yarn portends a long and challenging knit. I’ve almost completed her carousel of lambs tea cosy. It is a great way to fashion a fantastic piece using fair isle techniques!
