From Sally — Can the Right Knitting Force Spring?

Filed under: Updates — surly @ 2:57 pm

If you can force bulbs, does that mean you can force Spring?  No, I didn’t think so either but I’ve been trying.  We’ve had a long and dreary winter and spring here in Boulder.  To counter it, I’ve been knitting with a lot of soft pastels and bright pinks.  That didn’t stop it from snowing again a few days ago.  I’ve got my fingers crossed that winter will eventually give up and go away.

One of my recent pastel knits is Adelaide by Isabelle Kraemer.  The yarn is Carol Sunday’s Angelic 3-ply in the colorway Ice.  I started this ages ago, knit the fun part (the yoke), and then let it languish.  I hauled it out this winter when I needed some mindless stockinette.

I made a few minor changes:  I added a stockinette roll to the neck, lengthened the short sleeves slightly, and added a few inches to the overall length.  I love the yarn and I think this will be a great transitional weather sweater.

On another note, remember this little guy?

What’s happened?  He’s turned into a big boy!

  1. The sweater looks lovely and very soft. I especially like the puppy pictures. My husband started a food blog a few years ago as a hobby. We got Molly and Lilly 5 years ago he included a photos of the girls with eery post. I think this is a great idea for you blog, too. Soft yarn, soft knits, but nothing is softer than a puppy.

  2. Your Adelaide is lovely! I especially like the yoke pattern and the short sleeves. Loki was adorable as a pup and now is very elegant looking! Tip: You might want to check out LIberty Puzzle Co. shop in Boulder. My daughter who lives in Boulder designed a map puzzle of Boulder and it is now ready for purchase. She has worked on it for months. It’s really cool. It can be framed when finished. Our Memorial Day in Mpls. is dark and rainy. Fortunately, my family gathered yesterday which was sunny and gorgeous! All the best to you!

  3. The sweater’s lovely, I adore that shade of ice blue for both summer and winter. Loki’s gone from cute to handsome in one step!

  4. Your Adelaide is beautiful – the stockinette curl trim is a good idea. Loki looks loveable, as always.
Re your weather – my mother, who grew up in Bozeman, Montana, has photos of herself and siblings laughing in the snow. In June.
