From Susan — Progress is Being Made!

Filed under: Aran Wrap Cardigan — lv2knit @ 10:46 am

To all of the naysayers (and you know who you are!), I am making some headway on the Aran Wrap.  It may be finished this week.  I don’t know what the deal was with those $##@@%^%^ sleeves, but it took 5 weeks for me to get them done 🙁 .  The peplum has 300 sts and seems like it is going faster:

I tried the lil sucker on and it seems to be working.  It fits just like the picture on Angela’s blog and should be a cute and warm fall/winter jacket.  I will probably need to do 3-3.5 repeats of the peplum instead of 2.5, in order to get to my derriere.  I picked up 16 fewer sts than called for so it would be symmetrical — the larger size has an exact number of repeats whereas the smaller size has an additional half repeat thrown in so the first cable is worked once more at the end of the row.  This creates the symmetry.  I maybe should have ADDED 16 sts, but too late now!  I am getting excited to get it done, which means it may actually happen!  Woo Hoo!

I know the Yarn Harlot does not need me linking to her to enlist readers ( 😉 ) but I am going to link to her post today called A Coffee Story.  I laughed out loud!

The leaves are peaking right now so it is beautiful here.

PS to Alison: Here are some pictures from my morning walk with doggie to the river lot:

  1. It will be well worth the effort to have this one finished. It is beautiful. I love the color and have this sweater on my list to knit after my Christmas knitting is finished. Could you post a photo of your Fall colors outside? I have to live through others blogs during this time of year if I want to see the Fall colors.

  4. heh! heh! I read Stephanie’s question and wasn’t sure if she was talking about the leaves or the sweater. Either case, she’s right!

  6. Love that red bench! I obviously haven’t been on all the best parts of the Mississippi! (I do like Itasca, though.)

  7. Gorgeous sweater and fall foliage photos! After 25 years in the SF Bay Area and I still miss New England fall colors. One of these days I’ll have vacation available in the fall and can go spend time somewhere where fall foliage is gorgeous.

  8. the wrap is beautiful, you’re finishing it up just in time for our cold MN evenings. Thanks for the link, it was a gem of a story. But I hate to say this, no one made me throw out my coffee when I boarded in Chicago and Boston and that was this weekend too. I too relish a good cup of coffee, especially very early in the morning.

  9. Evie – Come to my street for fall foliage colors. This next week they will be coming into their prime. In our part of San Jose, CA the street trees are ornamental pistachio, and they flame out beautifully. It is not the same as if the whole countryside were ablaze but it is pretty nice.
