In this time of campaign promises, here is one promise I promised myself I would keep. I promised to post some pictures of me actually wearing my completed Aran Wrap. I rarely pose for the blog in my FOs, but I made an exception in this case. The Aran Wrap, with its unique construction, is one of those projects that could go either way: funky or weird, edgy or ridiculous, fashion forward or fashion faux pas. I will let you be the judge, but I did feel that simply tossing the wrap onto Lettie would not tell the true story.
Here goes:
So don’t say I didn’t keep my campaign promises 🙂 — and we will soon be able to see who else keeps theirs.
P.S. from Sally:
My daughter and her boyfriend were into the Halloween spirit this year and carved these nice pumpkins.
And they put my poor little assistant into a costume.
So wrong, but so cute.
I love the construction and the great cables. But for me – at 5 feet tall – it would most definitely be a fashion faux pas. Beside the gorgeous wrap, I like the looks of the sweater underneath the wrap.

It looks much better on you than anywhere else! Happy All Hallow’s Eve!

You look great! You are my inspiration – I’m half way through the back – and at the rate I knit I’m hoping to wear it in the new year.

Well, it may be Halloween, but that’s not a scary costume — It looks terrific — even more so with (is it?) Oregon peeking out. I think it looks very dramatic – and so different, you can wear it as long as *you* like it without it being out of style.

It looks beautiful. The kind of thing I would wear whenever I needed to have something to keep me warm and comfy. Wear it anywhere, anytime kind of thing.
Surly – it’s just wrong to have your assistant in a chicken costume. Funny, but wrong.

I love your cardigan. Simply beautiful!
BTW, you look much happier in your cardigan than your assistant does in his costume!

The Aran looks great on you. Who would guess that it would look so different on then it did on the blocking board. I am almost motivated to make one for myself. I am always leary of patterns that are this different and how they would look on real people. You have proved that they actually can work.

Nice, very nice! I might even have to look at that pattern again.

I love the look of the wrap over your other sweater – nice job!
And I know it’s wrong, but there’s something so funny about pets in costumes – I can’t put mine in any because I think they’d shred them, but I do appreciate the efforts of others…

Excellent job on the cardigan–it’s both cozy and fashionable! And the pumpkins are fabulous; I especially like the one that’s the subtle political statement….

Susan, the cardigan is beautiful. It looks fabulous! (As does fall in your neck of the woods.)
Sally, great pumpkins and very cute assistant. Poor little dog – you’re right, so wrong. Heee.

I loved every picture in this post – those pumpkins are masterpieces. I know you had misgivings about the wrap, but I think it looks lovely, so congratulations.

SUCCESS! It looks gorgeous on you, Susan!

The back view is stupendous. The rest I could not see very well, but I’m sure it must match the back. Happy POST Halloween by the way!

The wrap looks lovely on you. It is such a beautiful piece of work.
And the dog looks adorable, even though it is so wrong 🙂

Great job on the cardigan. I was not sure about that one, as far as how it would work for me, but it definitely is a winner! Lovely. I like the carved pumpkins too. Is the one on the end the Obama logo? It looks like it.

Susan, the cardigan looks great and I think you should model more of your FOs for the blog. Sally, Couldn’t they find a superman costume? Poor puppy. Tell them they did a great job on the pumpkins.

Your masterpiece is perfect on you and looks very slimming! Your adorable little assistant does not seem to mind at all and is very warm. My daughter had her dogs dressed up for her wedding this summer .They were the hit of her wedding and loved the attention.

I have a question on the Hemlock Ring Throw pattern, and I’m hoping you can answer. I started it this weekend, and got to Round 47, where the feather and fan part starts. I don’t understand the note about how “the 1st 9 sts will be worked at the beginning of the round when the marker is moved and again at the end of the round.” Are the 9 stitches I knit before I moved the marker supposed to be knit in the F&F pattern? Or are they just plain knit?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. I always enjoy reading your blog! JAH

Oh, I’m so glad you did. that is one fantastic wrap.
How clever the kids were with the pumpkins.
Your helper will get over being a chicken but if you find eggs laying around you can get on TV!

Susan, a mutual friend led me to your kick-ass blog.
I’m thrilled to tell you this mutual friend will be visiting Minneapolis for a knitting event in January 2009. Please contact me for more details, I’m trying to plan a soirée while she’s here.

The Little Assistant gave me a good chuckle. How funny! The Aran wrap looks good. Looks good on you, too. I think you did a good job. The Aran wrap can be dressed up or down, so I think you can consider it a classic part of your wardrobe.
